Developing Countries Membership Rate
ISPA has adopted a stepped membership fee structure. We now offer reduced fees to those living and working in low and lower-middle income countries. We use the World Bank classification of countries for our reference. Those living and working in low-income or lower-middle income economies are granted the reduced membership fees of 50% off regular membership rate.

To receive the Developing Countries Membership rate, you must have residency in, must be currently living in, and be a citizen of the qualifying country. Specifically, the mailing address on the application must be in the qualifying country.
ICPA - ECPA - ACPA Proceedings Consolidation
ISPA is pleased to announce the beginning of consolidation of the ICPA-ECPA-ACPA proceedings on the ISPAg.org website.

ISPA offers a searchable database of ICPA proceedings since 2008. We also offer links to resources for ECPA and ACPA proceedings online.
Economics Community
The ISPA Board of Directors approved the application of the Precision Agriculture Economics, Profitability, Adoption, and Risk Community

The scope of this community includes all agricultural economists and associated economic topics including other social sciences. Pertinent topics are profitability, economics, efficiency, and adoption. Economists often examine the profitability of precision either as individual or bundled technology. The economics at the micro- and macro-scale are being evaluated. The adoption trends of technology in both developed and developing countries are often a sub-theme that economists study. Social science topics may include impacts of technology on the rural household, not just the farming operation.

Proposed activities
  • Organize two oral paper sessions at each ICPA, one for profitability and economics and the other on adoption trends and other social science issues.
  • Hold bi-yearly virtual meetings via Skype or similar to encourage worldwide collaboration on adoption trends of precision technology.
  • Hold breakfast meeting at ICPA in even number years to elect Community Leaders and discuss topics for collaboration to present at the next ICPA.
  • Community members will reach out to their colleagues to encourage abstract submission for consideration for presentations.
  • Maintain web page on ISPA website including list of current projects and team members
  • Contribute an entry for ISPA newsletter twice a year
Please contact Terry Griffin, Leader or Jordan Shockley, Vice-Leader for more information and participation.

Definition of Precision Agriculture
Do you want to help put together ISPA’s definition of “precision agriculture” (PA)? Please volunteer by sending your name to president@ispag.org. Definitions of PA are all around the place and we feel it is about time to establish our own. Just recently, the Soil Science Society of America has come up with a new definition of soil. PA has considerably evolved since its infancy and we think we would do a great service to those wondering what PA is all about by establishing the ISPA’s definition of PA. If you have something to say and you want to be part of this initiative, it is time to show up! We will be using a collaboration platform to work that definition out in a sleek and efficient manner.
In the News...
Precision Herbicide "Blasting" (video):  A new weed technology uses a combination of infrared, sensors, and nozzles to detect plants and aim a blast of herbicide at a spot the size of a nickel.

Robot Farmers?  Miniature robot farmers may be the answer to concerns about excess chemical use, food waste, and labor shortages.

The International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA) is a non-profit professional scientific organization.
The mission of ISPA is to advance the science of precision agriculture globally.
