1. Application of Variable-Rate Irrigation for Potato ProductivityVariable-rate irrigation (VRI) has the potential to increase yields and reduce water consumption and energy costs. Spatial and temporal variability of soil and field properties can impact the efficiency of irrigation and crop yield. The VRI technology allows for the precise application of irrigation to meet crop water demands in controlled amounts prescribed for specific management zones within a field. Sensitivity to over and under-irrigation and the high-water requirements of potato make the... A. Yari, C. Madramootoo, S.A. Woods, V.I. Adamchuk, L. Gilbert |
2. Late Season Imagery for Harvest ManagementThe overall objective of this project was to preliminarily assess the use of UAV-based thermal imagery to sense harvest-related factors. Results suggested that thermal imagery can be used to detect areas of high grain moisture content late in the harvest season. Time periods closer to physiological maturity were less likely to show significant differences in thermal imagery data. Additional research is needed to determine if moisture content trends with other measurable quantities... J. Ward, G. Roberson, R. Phillips |
