The International Society of Precision Agriculture holds officer elections each year for board positions.  On even numbered years the ISPA membership will vote on the roles of President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer (four year term), North America Regional Representative, and Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Representative.  The results of the election will be announce during the International Conference on Precision Agriculture.  On odd numbered years the ISPA membership will vote on the roles of Africa Regional Representative, Asia/Oceania Regional Representative, and Europe Regional Representative.  The results of the election will be announced during the European Conference on Precision Agriculture. 

 

Candidates can be nominated by active ISPA members or by self-nomination.  All active ISPA members will have the opportunity to vote in the electronic election for the roles of President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer.  The Regional Representatives are elected by a majority vote of members from that region.  Prior to the election, the Board will review and approve the nominations.  

 

The nomination committee of ISPA is requesting nominations for the following offices for the ISPA. 

• President-Elect - (Two year appointment) to serve from July 2026 to July 2028, and then move to President for July 2028 to July 2030 and then to Past-President in 2030
• Secretary - (Two year appointment) to serve from July 2026 to July 2028
• North America Regional Representative - (Two year appointment) to serve from July 2026 to July 2028
• Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Representative - (Two year appointment) to serve from July 2026 to July 2028

To nominate an individual:

• The nominator must be a current member of ISPA.
• The nominee must be a current member of ISPA.
• Contact the nominee and verify that they are interested/available to serve as an officer. 
• Submit a short CV or bio (2-pages)
• A high resolution picture of nominee.
• The nominee must provide a vision statement for serving in this role. 
• Provide contact information for the nominee and the nominator.
• Please send nominations to nominations@ispag.org.

Nominations must be received by May 1, 2026.  

ISPA is developing a Digital Agriculture definition and we would like to hear from our ISPA membership currently working in Digitial Ag or expecting to do so. This survey will inform the definition committee. We split this into four broad questions:

a. Where, within food systems, do you operate?
b. What technologies do you consider most important? (We suggest four classes: data collection, control tech, modeling/AI and comms/networking.)
c. How do you believe technology creates value? (We suggest three classes: increased efficiency, better processes, and assett management.)
d. Who do you expect gains value from digitial ag?

 

Digital Agriculture Survey

Submitted by Italy Country Representative, Alessandro Matese.  This article explores precision agriculture in Italy from two perspectives: the current state of the scientific literature and the available evidence on the adoption of precision agriculture technologies and practices across the Italian country.

Current state of the scientific literature in Italy:
 
The findings presented here are drawn from a dataset of 400 peer-reviewed journal articles published from 2023 onward in the Italian precision agriculture context. One of the clearest findings from the dataset is that Italian precision agriculture is moving along several strong and well-defined lines of research.
 
The first major area is remote and proximal sensing. UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, thermal data, vegetation indices and field-scale monitoring appear throughout the literature. This confirms that a large part of Italian research is still focused on monitoring crop conditions and acquiring within-field variability with increasing detail and accuracy.
 
A second major direction is artificial intelligence and machine learning, which increasingly act as a common layer across many applications. From 2023 to 2025, the literature shows clear growth in classification, forecasting, detection, regression, deep learning and computer vision.
